High-Speed Multimedia Services for TDD-CDMA Multihop Cellular Networks (Invited)

Abstract

Supporting high-speed multimedia services is the greatest challenge for next generation cellular networks. Several techniques and solutions have been proposed in response to increasing demands of users. Among them, multihop cellular network (MCN) is one of the promising solutions. MCN architecture aims to incorporate the flexibility of ad hoc networks into traditional cellular networks. In this paper, we propose time slot allocation schemes for multi-hop TDD-CDMA networks. We also investigate and compare performance of multihop and conventional single-hop time slot allocation schemes in supporting different multimedia traffics. The results indicate that our proposed multihop schemes show better performance compared to other schemes in different traffic scenarios.
