A new insertion anode material, Li3VO4, is reported for lithium ion batteries. It shows both a larger reversible capacity (323 mAh g−1) and a lower insertion voltage (0.5∼1.0 V vs. Li/Li+) thus can promise higher energy density than the typical insertion anode of Li4Ti5O12.
