Software productivity has been a big problem in software engineering. We believe that having high-quality skilled members joining the project team will dramatically increase the odds of a project's success. Nevertheless, highly skilled programmers have long been in great shortage. Conventional programming teaching/learning activities are rather ineffective and time-consuming. To teach programming languages effectively to the next generation, we need to create a more effective and active learning environment. MPTE (Multimedia Programming Training Environment) provides us with such an environment. If supplied with a well-designed course content, this system will become a rather time-efficient training environment.
