Effect of Microgravity on Laminar Diffusion Flames

Abstract

A numerical model has been developed to predict the effect of microgravity on a laminar diffusion flame. Transition of the flame from 1-g to the zero-g condition is also studied. Results show that the flame, upon sudden withdrawal of gravity, require some relaxation-time before attaining a steady state profile characterized by a larger width and almost unchanged height.
