This paper is concerned with the pyroelectric infrared sensor using modified lead titanate ceramics (Pb, Ca)[(Co 1/2 W 1/2 ), Ti]O 3 . The pyroelectric properties of these ceramics have been studied by changing the Ca concentration. With an increase in Ca concentration, the pyroelectric coefficient P and figure of merit Fv increased and reached 4.43×10 -8 C cm -1 °C -1 , and 0.61×10 -10 C cmJ -1 , respectively. Pyroelectric characteristics have been improved to twice the values for the PbTiO 3 ceramics. Several applications of the sensor are described.
