Physical Layer Impairment Aware Shared Path Protection In WDM Optical Networks

Abstract

We propose a heuristic algorithm for physical layer impairments (PLIs) aware shared-path protection methods for single link failures in transparent optical WDM networks. Our algorithm achieves 100% restorability, 23% improvement in Wavelength-link sharing.
