Abstract

Ferry service is one of the optional ways to Pulau Langkawi beside the airway. Currently, this optional transport becomes the most popular choice among the tourists. Since the number of passengers increase day by day, the organized system is needed to formulate the ferry schedule. The aim of the study is to apply linear programming formulation in minimizing the number of excess passengers that use ferry services from Kuala Perlis to Kuah and vice versa. High demand of ferry services during normal day sometime had lead to longer waiting time. The result of the study suggests that the proposed model able to reduce the number of excess passengers at the same time resulted to shorter waiting time.
