Study on properties of electroless (Ni–P)–Fe3O4 (nanometre) composite plated PET fabrics

Abstract

Electroless composite plating of (Ni–P)–Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles on PET fabric was performed in the laboratory. The (Ni–P)–Fe 3 O 4 coated fabric was investigated by means of scanning electron microscopy, energy dispersive spectroscopy, thermal gravimetric and X‐ray diffraction analysis. The electromagnetic shielding performance and abrasion resistance were also measured. The results showed that the onset decomposition temperature of electroless composite plated fabric was lower than that of the original one. The shielding effectiveness of (Ni–P)–Fe 3 O 4 plated fabric increased with increasing the add‐ons of Fe 3 O 4 nanoparticles. As compared with the Ni–P plated fabric, the abrasion resistance of (Ni–P)–Fe 3 O 4 plated fabric became worse.
