Synthesis of Au2S/Au Core/Shell Nanostructures

Abstract

We present a description of the synthesis process that produces pure Au2S cores, with no Au byproducts, followed by the growth of a pure Au shell. As the gold shell thickness increases the plasmon shifts towards the red. NIR Au2S/Au core/shell nanoparticles, ~30nm in diameter, have been realized.
