Abstract

Luminescent properties of A g– Eu 3+ co‐doped 80 H 3 BO 3 –20 B a F 2 glasses prepared by melt‐quenching technique at relatively low temperature (1000°C) were characterized by absorption, excitation, emission spectra, and lifetime measurements systematically. A white emission ( X = 0.373, Y = 0.334) has emerged by combining red, green, and blue emissions that originated from Eu 3+ , very small molecule‐like, nonplamonic A g particles ( ML – A g) and A g + , respectively. Under nonresonant excitation (310–370 nm), E u 3+ emission was enhanced significantly by 60 times. Our results suggest that A g– E u 3+ co‐doped H 3 BO 3 – B a F 2 glasses could be potentially applied as white phosphors in white light emitting diodes.
