Optimal power allocation and relay location for decode-and-forward dual-hop systems over Weibull fading channels

Abstract

This paper addresses the power allocation (PA) and relay location problems in a dual-hop decode-and-forward relaying system over Weibull fading channels. The optimization problems such as optimal relay location with fixed power allocation, adaptive PA with fixed relay location and joint optimization of the PA and relay location, are investigated in order to maximize the ergodic capacity under identical Weibull fading. The above problems are also discussed to minimize the outage probability over non-identical Weibull fading channels. Numerical results show that the adaptive algorithms outperform fixed allocation schemes.
