Th is study is the presentation of refl ections undertaken based on the analysisof historical-educational production connected with the theme of History of SchoolSubjects. From the analysis is inferred the existence of theoretical-methodologicalfoundations of the History of School Subjects that support the refusal of treating thetheme of the school subject in a prescriptive and a-historical manner, the eff ort inapproaching the theme in a comprehensive manner and, fi nally, the search for understandingthe social uses of the subjects at diff erent levels of teaching. From the point ofview of sources, in the history of school subjects there is fertility in the use of evidencelike those most commonly presented in investigations in this fi eld, namely: a variedbibliography, printed and handwritten documents, oral testimony and iconography.
