Abstract

Abstract The new compounds Pr 8 (C 2 ) 4 Cl 5 (I), Pr 14 (C 2 ) 7 Cl 9 (II), Pr 22 (C 2 ) 11 Cl 14 (III), Ce 2 (C 2 )Cl (IV), La 2 (C 2 )Br (V), Ce 2 (C 2 )Br (VI), Pr 2 (C 2 )Br (VII), Ce 18 (C 2 ) 9 Cl 11 (VIII), and Ce 26 (C 2 ) 13 Cl 16 (IX) are synthesized by heating mixtures of LnX 3 (Ln: Ce, La, Pr; X: Cl, Br), Ln, and carbon, or mixtures of LnX 3 and Ln 2 C 3 /Ln for several days between 750 and 1200 °C.
