Abstract

Does cyclo-P4 exist as complex ligand? A partial answer to this question is provided by the structural elucidation of the title compound 1, which was synthesized by cothermolysis of [(C5Me4Et)Rh(CO)2] and white phosphorus (P4). The four P atoms in 1 form a (P2)2 rectangle arranged parallel to the two five-membered rings (Rh: hatched; P: black).
