Spatial harmonics analysis of deep waveguide Bragg gratings

Abstract

The spectral properties of a single mode planar Deep Waveguide \nBragg Grating (DWBG) operating on the first diffraction order are \ninvestigated by a Spatial Harmonics theoretical approach. This \nanalytical method allows to evaluate the most important features \nof the propagating fields. In particular, the slowdown of the \ngroup electromagnetic propagation near the photonic band-edges is \naccurately modelled with a minimal computational effort, which \nmakes this tool useful for preliminary analysis of periodic \nwaveguides.
