Abstract

A photorefractive nonlinear incoherent-erasure joint- transform correlator is presented and analyzed. The nonlinearity of this correlator can be tuned from the classical-matched filter to the phase-extraction limit by increasing the erasure beam intensity. Experimental results in Bi₁₂GeO₂₀ show a transition from matched-filter correlation to phase-extraction correlation by increasing the erasure beam intensity, in agreement with our theoretical results.
