Abstract

Based on the quasistatic approximation and linearity assumption, propagation of Rayleigh waves in a magnetoelectroelastic half-space with initial stress is investigated. The coupled differential equations of motion are solved, and the wave velocity is obtained for four types of electromagnetic boundary. The effect of initial stress on the wave propogation characteristics is explored. The mechanical, electric, and magnetic responses are discussed in detail. We find that the initial stress has an important effect on the Rayleigh waves propagation in a magnetoelectroelastic half-space.
