A design of the frequency modulated continuous wave (FMCW) radar system

Abstract

In this paper, FMCW Radar system is used for measurement of oil level in the oil tank. Analog part consists of horn type Antenna, Hybrid Coupler, Mixer, and Voltage Controller Oscillator (VCO). Digital part is designed using DSP chip with ADC chip. The experiment was simulated in the virtual chamber of oil tank; the measured distance ranges from 1 m to 17 m with 400 mm intervals. Resolution and error are below 1 mm and 20 mm were obtained respectively.
