Remote detection of pollutants using resonance Raman scattering

Abstract

Calculations of the resonance Raman cross section for several diatomic molecules are presented. These results are used, together with recent measurements of large resonance enhancements in NO(2) and SO(2), to estimate the sensitivity of a lidar system based upon the resonance Raman effect.
