Planar Compact LTE/WWAN Monopole Antenna for Tablet Computer Application

Abstract

A novel design of a planar multiband monopole antenna with dual parasitic shorted strips for LTE/WWAN operation in the tablet computer is proposed. The obtained impedance bandwidth across the operating bands can reach about 255/980 MHz for the LTE/WWAN bands, respectively. Only with the antenna size of 45 × 15 × 0.8 mm 3 , the proposed planar antenna has the compact operation with more than 25% antenna size reduction. The measured peak gains and antenna efficiencies are about 2.5/3.6 dBi and 85/84% for the LTE/WWAN bands, respectively.
