Abstract This work presents optically addressable liquid crystal displays (LCDs) in polymer‐dispersed cholesteric liquid crystals (PDCLCs). A UV‐polymerized polymer film can destroy the surface‐treated alignment layer, and change the cholesterics textures from planar to focal conic in PDCLCs. The clearing temperature can be changed by doping with monomeric and chiral dopant due to the impurity effect. Additionally, the clearing temperatures of LCs in cured and uncured regions are different because of the quantity of the monomers, which can increase the impurity. Consequently, the presented textures in these two regions can be switched by controlling sample's temperature, and can be achieved several interesting devices.
