Magnetic-Field Sensor with Polarization-Maintaining Optical Fiber

Abstract

A new magnetic-field sensor composed of polarization-maintaining fibers and a distributed feedback semiconductor laser diode have been fabricated. Minimum detectable magnetic field of 3 × 10−6Oe / fiber meter is demonstrated.
