THERE has been a decrease in the number of statistical and historical studies in the field of science education during the last few years. Many of the articles that have been published are on the borderline between research and discussion. Tho important contributions have been made that support findings reported previously, there has been relatively little research reported that may be classed as definitely new findings. As yet there have been no careful studies reported on questions raised by the newer developments in curriculum, and there is a sharp contrast between the ideas dealt with in these articles and the current ideas of curriculum
