Sm/sub 2/Fe/sub 17/N/sub x/ bonded magnets with high performance

Abstract

Resin bonded magnets are prepared from Sm/sub 2/Fe/sub 17/N/sub x/ compounds and their magnetic properties and stabilities are investigated. The magnetic properties of the Sm/sub 2/Fe/sub 17/N/sub 3/ fine powder are: B/sub r/=13.4 kG, H/sub ci/=8.6 kOe, and (BH)/sub max/=30.3 MGOe. The bonded magnets show (BH)/sub max/ of 19.4 MGOe, and better stabilities against environmental conditions than Nd-Fe-B magnets. It is found that Sm/sub 2/Fe/sub 17/N/sub x/ compounds have potential applications for bonded magnets with high performance.< >
