Electrochemical detection of hydrogen peroxide and glucose based on chitosan stabilized silver nanowire modified electrodes

Abstract

The electrochemical detection of H 2 O 2 and glucose based upon chitosan-stabilized silver nanowires (CS-AgNWs) onto a modified glassy carbon electrode is demonstrated. AgNWs synthesized through polyol process with high yield were used as electrocatalytic material to construct the modified electrode. CS-AgNWs modified glassy carbon electrode without enzyme (CS-AgNWs/GCE) exhibits excellent catalytic performance toward H 2 O 2 reduction with sensitivity of 24.34 μAmM −1 cm −2 . Furthermore, the enzyme electrode prepared by immobilizing glucose oxidase (GOx)n the CS-AgNWs (CS-AgNWs/GOx/GCE) exhibits well defined redox peaks at −0.65 V. Peak current increases with increasing the glucose concentration from 1 to 12 mM with sensitivity to glucose of 14.6 μAmM −1 cm −2 . Consequently, this CS-AgNWs modified electrode is a promising candidate for H 2 O 2 sensor and enzyme-based glucose biosensors.
