[EN] The grammar or guiding principles of the Spanish sistema \ndiédrico use the projective schema of a model \nto help structure a student’s spatial thinking, while \nthe Anglo-Saxon direct method relies on the reconstruction \nof a mental image of the geometric configuration. \nThe epistemological framework that created \nclassical descriptive geometry has been \nsuperseded and this has lead to a progressive abandonment \nof intellectual speculation and a reorientation \ntowards applied design. Spain’s previous cultural \nisolation meant that educational institutions fell behind \nadvances in the field of drawing and a degree \nof scholasticism took hold until the second half of the \ntwentieth century.
