Differential-phase partial-reflection technique for the determination ofD-region ionization

Abstract

The theory underlying D region partial-reflection experiments is briefly reviewed. We derive formulas that provide a basis for determination of electron density from analysis of differential phase. Electron density profiles obtained from the application of the differential-absorption and differential-phase techniques are presented and compared.
