In a 2D model, a fiber-optic gyroscope (FOG) temperature drift is theoretically investigated under the influence of temperature fields on its sensing coil for two techniques of fiber winding. The temperature field in the fiber cross section is calculated by means of the finite-difference method. It is established that, for the FOG temperature drift reduction to the level of 0.01 deg/h, the coil size being retained small enough, it is effective to combine the thermal insulation, metallic screens, and compound with high heat conductivity.
