X band travelling-wave light-intensity modulator using ZnS crystals

Abstract

A travelling-wave light-intensity modulator is described which uses two natural crystals of ZnS. This prototype needs a peak microwave pulse of 2 kW for 45% modulation, and has an overall bandwidth of 15% at 9.75 GHz.
