Compact annular patch monopole antenna for WLAN application

Abstract

In order to satisfy the requirement of dual-frequency, a novel ring shape antenna for dual-band WLAN applications is proposed. The antenna is fed by a 50Ω microstrip line. The configuration is simple. The proposed antenna consists of a ring-shape monopole which has two resonating paths with a gap. Therefore, the antenna can work at the two bands of WLAN. Optimization of the antenna and antenna radiation efficiency are analyzed by HFSS. Both the simulation result and the experimental result are provided. They coincide with each other.
