Parallel input series output DC/DC converter for fuel cell applications

Abstract

This article proposes a new dc/dc converter which is appropriate for fuel cell applications. The converter consists of a boost converter with an elementary self lift Cûk converter. Interleaving technique is applied to the inputs that reduces the input current ripple, which is a key factor in fuel cell applications. Also, series connection of the outputs increases the output voltage. Therefore, the converter will be completely suitable for fuel cell applications. The switching methods and operation modes of this converter are investigated. Moreover, simulation results are presented in comparison with a floating output interleaved input double boost converter and parameters such output voltage, input current ripple and efficiency of the converter are compared.
