Aligned electrospun PVDF-TrFE nanofibers for flexible pressure sensors on catheter

Abstract

In the present paper, we report the development of electrospun PVDF-TrFE (polyvinyledenedifluoride-tetrafluoroethylene) nanofibers based sensor. In order to boost the sensitivity of the sensors, highly aligned nanofibers were directly deposited on a custom patterned flexible substrate. The complete process from optimization of electrospinning parameters to fabrication of sensors and testing of the sensors has been described. Preliminary results showed that devices were capable of generating 300mV signal with 0.45s recovery time on manual mechanical deformation.
