Abstract

A fiber Bragg grating (FBG) sensor demodulator using a chirped fiber grating is proposed. The demodulator uses UV-induced birefringence of chirped fiber grating to interrogate the wavelength shift of a sensor FBG. The demodulator is composed of a polarizing beam splitter, a polarization controller, a single-mode fiber, and a chirped fiber grating. The proposed demodulator is immune to light power fluctuation and is cost-effective.
