Abstract

The enhanced photoelectrochemical cathodic protection performance of the In2O3/TiO2 composite for 304 stainless steel (SS) was investigated in this work. The heterojunction structure of the In2O3/TiO2 composite promotes the generation and transfer of the photoinduced electrons, resulting in a larger number of photogenerated electrons injected from the In2O3/TiO2 composite to the coupled 304 SS electrode, and thus improving the photoelectrochemical cathodic protection performance. Furthermore, the Fermi level of the In2O3/TiO2 composite negatively shifts compared with that of TiO2, leading to a further increase of the photoelectrochemical cathodic protection performance of the In2O3/TiO2 composite for the coupled 304 SS from another aspect.
