Distributed lightpath control and management simulator for survivable wavelength-routing networks

Abstract

Optical wavelength-division multiplexed (WDM) network is taking over as the technology for next generation Internet. This paper represents a simulation study for a novel distributed protocol for online provisioning in survivable wavelength- routing WDM networks. In this paper we discuss, in detail, a novel control and management protocol to set up and tear down connections in distributed environment. Moreover, we describe the implementation of Distributed Lightpath Control and Management Simulator (DILCAMSim) an Object-Oriented simulator that serves to show the effectiveness of our proposed protocol.
