Novel Chirped Fiber Optic Current Sensor

Abstract

We present a rugged magnetostriction-based optical current sensor with wide dynamic range. It consists of a fiber Bragg grating embedded in a tapered polymer block converting magnetostrictive strain into frequency chirp proportional to magnetic field.
