Abstract

Solution of open boundary problems is of considerable interest to scientists and engineers to obtain computational efficiency without sacrificing accuracy. The need for such solutions is being further emphasized by the advent of workstations with CAD software for design applications. A novel technique known as the "Hybrid Harmonic/Finite Element Method" is presented which uses a macroelement for the exterior and requires only potential continuity at the boundary nodes, with the interior finite elements.
