Vestibular Problems in Space Travel

Abstract

A short survey is made of the vestibular problems related to space travel i.e. 1) linear acceleration, 2) weightlessness and 3) rotating space stations. Longer periods of weightlessness make it necessary to generate artificial gravitation by rotation. The effects of coriolis acceleration in rotating environment have been studied and methods to overcome this disturbing fenomenon outlined.
