Abstract

The superconducting transition temperature of NbSe2 has been measured as a function of hydrostatic pressure to 20 kbar and quasihydrostatic pressure to 140 kbar. At first, Tc increases rapidly, but by 35kbar the rate of increase has fallen by an order of magnitude from its initial value and then remains constant to the maximum pressure. It is suggested that this change in slope is associated with the phase change which occurs in the vicinity of 33 kbar at room temperature and that Tc is related to the interlayer spacing.
