Charge Transport in Manganese–Magnesium Ferrites

Abstract

Thermoelectric power studies on mixed Manganese–Magnesium ferrites are undertaken over a temperature range 300 to 550 K by thermal probe method. On the basis of the sign of the Seebeck coefficient, the ferrites under study are classified into n-type and p-type semiconductors. Temperature variation of Seebeck coefficient (Q), carrier concentration (n), mobility (μ), and Fermi energy (EF) are discussed. On the basis of these results, a conduction mechanism in Manganese–Magnesium ferrites is suggested. Mittels Thermosonde werden Untersuchungen der Thermospannung an gemischten Mangan-Magnesium-Ferriten im Temperaturbereich Von 300 bis 550 K durchgeführt. Auf Grund des Vorzeichens des Seebeck-Koeffizienten werden die untersuchten Ferrite in n- und p-leitende Halbleiter klassifiziert. Die Temperaturänderungen des Seebeckkoeffizienten (Q), der Trägerkonzentration (n), Beweglichkeit (μ) und der Fermienergie (EF) werden diskutiert. Auf der Grundlage dieser Ergebnisse wird ein Leitungsmechanismus in Mangan-Magnesiumferriten vorgeschlagen.
