Abstract

Mesoporous SBA-15-supported Pd catalyst has been prepared using supercritical carbon dioxide (scCO2). Highly improved dispersion of Pd nanoparticles coupled with favorable mass transport of reactants in the supercritical fluid medium induced a remarkable enhancement of catalytic selectivity for the hydrogenation of 4-methoxycinnamic acid benzyl ester in scCO2.
