Anchor-free localization algorithms do not depend on the existence of anchor objects. Since no anchor objects are required, the localization algorithm can still be applied to problems for which setting anchor objects is difficult. In the anchor-free localization problem, the majority of the solutions have a specific requirement in order to achieve high-accuracy localization. In a real environment, it is difficult to maintain such an environment. In this paper, we propose a distance-based sequence for mobile localization (DSML) algorithm in order to estimate the positions of sensor nodes based on receive signal strength (RSS) measurements. We evaluated the variation of distance in order to assure the estimation accuracy using the proposed algorithm. Simulation results reveal that the proposed method can assure the estimation accuracy in anchor-less localization. The results also demonstrated improvements in localization error in the range of 6% to 83%.
