Application of the first, second and modified second order absorbing boundary conditions are carried out. Large errors are introduced in the finite-difference-time-domain (FDTD) models due to reflections from the absorbing boundaries. Using problems with analytical solutions, the errors resulting from the comparison of the FDTD results with analytical solutions are used to decide on the overall size of a problem and on the minimum distance where the truncation of the computational space should occur.
