A proposed relay selection algorithm over Rayleigh fading channel

Abstract

In this paper a relay selection algorithm for decode and forward relaying is proposed to select one relay from multi-relay networks. Based on incremental best relay technique, the selected relay by the proposed algorithm is chosen to transmit only if the rely-to-destination link signal to noise ratio (SNR) is greater than the SNR of the source-destination. The proposed algorithm does not require cyclic redundancy check for error correction. The performance of the algorithm is evaluated in terms of bit error rate and outage probability for known and estimated channel. The performance of the proposed algorithm is compared with other existing schemes for relay selection. Channel estimation is performed by least square algorithm. Numerical results show that the proposed algorithm has better performance than some of the schemes.
