The objective of the following study was to "Determine the factors associated with complications in patients with hypertension from 40 years to more attended EsSalud II-2 Hospital - Tarapoto, May to October 2018", the following is a non-experimental, quantitative, prospective, correlational research. The population and sample was constituted by 100 adults, likewise the survey technique was used and as instruments a data collection card. \nResults: Patients with hypertension over 40 years of age treated at EsSalud, only 2% and 8% adequately perform pharmacological treatment and participate in the hypertension program respectively. Contrary to the results of the items on lifestyles, observing that 85% presents an adequate lifestyle. Patients with hypertension presented as more 8frequent complications we found renal failure in 27%, followed by cardiovascular diseases 12%, vascular increase 9%, cognitive disorders 4% and congestive heart failure - CHF in 3.0%. In conclusion, there is no association between variable factors associated with complications in patients with arterial hypertension of 40 years or more, the non-parametric chi square test was applied because it had a level of significance greater than what was allowed. (p> 0.05).
