Spectral-polarization characteristics of imperfect single-mode optical fibers

Abstract

We consider a simple model allowing description of the spectral-polarization characteristics of optical fibers with local defects that result in energy exchange between modes with different polarizations. An experimental study was carried out that confirmed the laws revealed.
