This article tries to evaluate building performance for emergency evacuation. The method developed in this article can allow the architecture plans to be compared at normal condition evacuation or emergency evacuation with static (fixed blockage of selected target spaces, e.g., earthquake, bomb) or dynamic (timed blockage of target spaces, e.g., fire) blocking. This approach can also be used to compare the evacuation performance for buildings that both meet and do not meet the codes. During the processes of analysis, an evacuation simulation model (ESM) is developed. ESM can be utilized in identifying the potential risk of the egress paths in the building evaluated and then in producing some fire protection measures. This article allows an egress system to be appropriately evaluated or designed. Thus, a decrease in the number of victims during an emergency becomes possible. Language: en
