Pseudo Handoff Call Elimination Capable Call Admission Control Scheme for Soft Handoff in CDMA Networks

Abstract

We propose a call admission control scheme for soft handoff of CDMA networks based on mobility estimation and mobility history of mobile stations. This work is further improvement of the Eliminating Pseudo Handoff Call (EPHC) proposed by Xiaomin Ma et.al. Therefore we named our proposed scheme as Improved EPHC (IEPHC). The proposed scheme not only improves network throughput but also reduces handoff and new call blocking probability. We derive here the handoff blocking probability. In addition, we present the decision procedures for the call admission control agent, which assigns a channel for handover requester mobile station. Numerical results show that the IEPHC scheme minimizes handover call blocking probability and increases throughput of CDMA cellular networks.
