Dermatology Resident Matching Program

To the Editor.—

I have read with interest your editorial entitled "A National Resident Matching Program for Dermatology" in the August 1981Archives(117:457-459). As one who has recently participated in this new matching program, I would like to point out several related problems in this program and a proposed solution. The editorial states that it is possible to conduct simultaneous interviews for G-1 and G-2 positions for those persons committed to dermatology while presumably still in their senior year of medical school. This is impossible in most situations, as G-1 (internship) interviews are generally held in September through December, while G-2 (residency) interviews for dermatology, with few exceptions, are not held until at least March of the following year.
