Electrodeposited Nickel-Iron-Molybdenum Thin Magnetic Films

Abstract

Thin magnetic films of nickel‐iron‐molybdenum, 600–800Aå thick, were electrodeposited from citrate complexed solutions containing sodium molybdate, nickel sulfate, and iron sulfate. The variation of magnetic properties of the films was determined as a function of the composition of the film, the pH of the plating solution, and the current density. All experiments were carried out at room temperature. Glass slides with vacuum evaporated chromium‐gold layers were used as substrates. Magnetic films with values of 1.0 oe have been obtained from these solutions.
